National Honey Show 2021
Updated: Oct 4
This week we went to the National Honey Show for the first time. Held at Sandown Racecourse once a year the beekeeping community comes together to celebrate the best of honey and bees wax products.
Whilst we were completing this year we wanted to see whether we could reach the standard to enter next years show.
There are hundreds of classes covering every combination of honey and beeswax as well as categories such as microscopy, photography, craft and cooking.
Some of the constructions from Beeswax were beautiful - like these flowers made out of beeswax.
We spent a couple of hours going round the exhibits talking with judges who were on hand to answer questions. The standard is really high but we felt we could make a attempt at entering next year and are looking forward to deciding which classes to enter.
Alongside the exhibits were a trade stall and series of lectures. We worked our way round the trade stalls learning lots about different types of hives and new ideas in beekeeping.
