We are launching a new brand - The Honey Atlas. This will specialise in singe origin honey, like Sunflower, Lime or Borage.
Obviously we think our West Berkshire Honey is the best - the champagne of the honey world so to speak. This has been confirmed by awards from National Honey Show judges and the Great Taste Awards.
However, whilst we love champagne, sometime we like something different. The world of honey has such a wide variety of flavours from minty Lime, to earthy Heather, dark and treacly Buckwheat to light and sweet Acacia. We don't have that many different single source honeys in West Berkshire so these will be sourced from further a field, but don't worry we won't stop selling the wonderful honey from our bees. We will sell any non-Berkshire single source honey under the name The Honey Atlas to make sure no one is confused.
We will only source high quality honey that we know to have come predominately from a particular type of honey.
The first honeys we are going to stock are Borage, Oil Seed Rape (OSR) and Buckwheat.

OSR Honey has a solid set texture and a super sweet taste. This will come from our bees as there is a lot of OSR in West Berkshire as we start to work with more and more estates we have able to secure more apiary location that will yield OSR honey.
OSR flowers in the Spring and produces a lot of nectar providing the whether is good.
Borage is one of the larger UK single source crops but it is predominately grown in the East of the Country - sadly not so much in West Berkshire. Initially we have a bee farmer supplying us from Suffolk direct from their bees!
Borage honey is a late season crop that makes a lovely light, liquid and delicately flavoured honey. It is a real treat.

We decided to include Buckwheat in our initial range because it has such a sharp contrast to the other two and is very different to what many people think of as honey.
It is dark brown, almost black, with a yeasty treacly taste. There are overtones of licorice. Just like this yeasty friend people either love it or they hate it.
We will be be looking to add more different single source honeys to the range over time. We will be bringing tasting to some of the events and market stalls we do so that you can see the wider range of what the world of honey has to offer!
